    Ridgeline/melted fabric question

When I was replacing the stock hennessy suspension with the dutch cinch buckles and straps, I cracked the melted fabric on the gathered end of my hennessy expedition. I was wondering if this will have any effect structuraly or saftey wise. I want to make sure I haven't damaged my hammock or ridgeline in anyway.
    Thank you!

My guess is it shouldn't. Did you have the 2 holes burnt through the fabric? You could re-melt that end with a high heat gun or torch. Just be careful and melt it but not catch it on fire. Don't think you really will have any problems as long as there is enough material you are cinching to at the end of the hammock.

Mine had two holes burnt through the suspension went through like in Ken's video posted in the suspension section on here.

I have the amsteel continuous loop through the 2 burn holes and ridgeline and everything is tight. Is it even worth the trouble of remelting that piece together?

I would say no. Keep an eye on it and see if it worsens on you. Chances are it will not. The wraps of amsteel should keep it all together. I would use your hammock in full confidence. The loop going through the burn holes keeps it all together. I finally got around to changing out my old Hennessey suspension on both of my explorers. Both of them have the burned holes. They were made in 07 and 10. Quite old I guess but still in shape.

As long as there is a couple wraps around the end and the loop isn't pulling on the hole you will be fine.
    Peace Dutch

    Lovelysweetdemon,

Was wondering if you came out okay changing your suspension. Got to thinking about what Dutch said and I made sure when I larksheaded back on the loop; I made sure it was pulling back on itself and not on the hammock.

Let us know how you faired.
