First, since we are spending your money, I would have you go to Wal Mart and get one of the cheap travel hammocks and a blue tarp. Then, with the rest of YOUR money, place an order FOR ME to get a Dutchware Chameleon (I haven't tried one yet and would like to do so) with bug net and winter cover with cinch buckle suspension. After that go to Simply Light Designs and order me a Winter Haven Tarp (11X10 in multi cam). Oh ya, please order it with the panel pull outs. There are so many different little things but I have learned what I like. Go back to Dutchware and order me two stingers for attaching my tarp ridgeline and get me about a dozen fleaz for attaching various guylines. Don't worry about stakes, I've got a ton of those. Oh, order me a top quilt and bottom quilt (full length). I don't really care which manufacturer you choose as they are all quite good. My personal favorites happen to be Hammock Gear and Enlightened Equipment; but, that is solely for selfish reasons as they both offer me a military discount. If we still have some of your money left over, please go to Arrowhead Equipment and order me another Kickback Hammock Chair. These things are awesome. The rest of the things I would have you buy are mostly little convenience things discovered through experience. I've probably got those covered; but, let me know if we have any excess funds.

    I'll spend your money:

    Dutchware Chameleon.
    Hammock Gear Incubator UQ
    UGQ Bandit Topquilt.
    UGQ Winterdream Tarp

This would be my setup, if I weren't so cheap and easy.

Just got my Simply Light Designs Trial Lair from Jared. I actually joined this forum a couple of weeks ago and was able to get some fantastic advice from the folks here. I had actually almost pulled the trigger on a Hennessy and decided to research more and bump up my budget. Ended up pulling the trigger on a setup from SLD. So glad I did.

Wow, what a helpful thread! It would have taken me hours to find all of those products... and it also gives me a sense of what I could resell easily if it didn't work out well for me But I have a feeling whatever I choose will find a permanent place in my gear closet, these are great suggestions.

BigSky, bonus points for creativity! SnyperX, reading your sub $200 thread was very helpful too.

It's top dollar, but they're your dollars, not my dollars. I already spent my dollars and am very happy with a Ridgerunner and an XLC. Both are nice.
I second this although I heard from a member here that if it is windy, a Ridgerunner is a little harder to stay warm in due to air flow. So I would stick with the WBBBXLC maybe the 1.1 double bottom. I run the WBBBXLC1.1DBL with a 3 season Wooki and a 40 degree down bag I converted to a TQ. It is good into the 40's and if it is going to go lower I use a 0 degree bag opened up but I have a Loco Libre 0 degree TQ coming soon to solve that!!

He mentioned he was going to start working on it... but I said no hurry!

One thing I've noticed, ever since I made some (simple) gear for myself, I respect the work that the cottage gear guys and gals do 1000% more. I'm so impressed by their skill and speed... and frankly cost. I respect anyone that can make a business out of making gear.
