Don't eat 4hours before dark and have your set up completed 2hrs before sleep. Cool off by taking a camp shower and changing clothes into something dry and light. Also position tarp to catch the wind unless rain or storming, A nice funnel can be nice or duel porch mode if no air movement. Having quilts in standby also helps stay cooler and deploy them if needed.

And if you don't have a shower or short on water, a damp rag on your forehead does wonders.

The hammock is HOW I beat the heat: get me the hell out of that hot, stuffy, upstairs apartment where even having A/C on doesn't help

Thinking of just getting an indoor hook just so I can get more used to the hammock in ideal conditions. You know, A/C going and a big fan. Maybe the TV going watching Shug youtube videos.
If you hang a gear hammock under you, but inside the bug-net, the skeeters can't get at your back side.

Alternatively, if you're using a built in bug-net as on the Chameleon, your UQ will help in this regard too. It might seem counter-intuitive to use an Underquilt when too hot, but usually you end up chilled in the wee hours anyway, and heat rises. I use an UQ year round, switching to my summer quilt. But I stash my TQ at the foot for the hottest portion of the summer and generally I'm comfortable like that, but then, I'm used to not having A/C.

USB fan and a small powerbank on the ridgeline... scroll down in this article I did to see a picture of the one I use. Works great.

R3l@x is going to bring his ice/fan insulated "swamp cooler" to the Harold Park SF hang this coming weekend. I'll try to grab a couple of shots of that!
