I found the forum by watching some rather entertaining hammock videos by Shug on YouTube. Got a hammock a little over a year ago and got hooked. I have slowly put together a camping setup with intentions of section hiking some of the A.T. in my home state of Virginia.

Hammock camping on the AT is great! You will find it to be a vast improvement over most of the hard packed shelter sites that most ground dwellers are stuck with. You'll find a wealth of information on this website (and from Shug as you've already discovered). Welcome again!

I think there are at least a few more from the broader Tennessee Valley that remain active on the boards. Though I haven't been to one yet, the group hangs down at the Sipsey Wilderness seem to be among the more well-organized group events you'll find. Make sure you keep an eye on the Southeast subforum.
