    Talking Synthetic Underquilt

Yay! I finally did a thing!

As much as I enjoy camping, and hammocks, actual hammock camping has been on hold because I didn't have anything resembling proper insulation, and I squirm way to much for a pad.

Enter the synthetic UQ. Made with 1.1 ripstop nylon in charcoal and robin's egg blue, and stuffed with 7.5 Climashield Apex, it should last me pretty much all year here in the south. I'm too poor to own multiple quilts at the moment, so I'll have to adjust the cinch and hang to accommodate warmer temps.

I mostly used RSBTR's instructions, and you can find the PDF under instructions on the Apex UQ kit page.

And my complete walkthrough, such as it is: my craft blog

I have the makings for the matching Top Quilt in 5.0 Apex and plans to make a double layer hammock as well so that I can eventually use a pad for warmer seasons. I just need the hammock fabric... and some more money... and a bug net.

I make sad puppy noises every time I look at that wishlist of stuff. The mosquito net (fronkey style) is actually next on the list after the top quilt. I need that more than another hammock to replace my Eno (which works well enough since I'm only 5'6"). Alabama's state bird might be the Yellowhammer, but that's only because Florida claimed the mosquito before we had a chance to.

Good job! I definitely understand the wish list issues.
