    This thing is WARM

Spent several hours laying out in the snow watching videos on my ipod touch - this thing is WARM

I had side zippers of the bag all open about 1/2 way down their full range. It was about 25*F and I was just about too hot. Not a bad problem to have since I could have left part of the bag in the house (it is two bags in one with a heavy-duty Goretex shell).

My second bag (the Fiancee's) arrived and was NEW - the QC tags that are sewn in were still in place - these just "fall" off when you brush them wrong so I know this thing is really... REALLY... new.

The only problem I have is I'm gonna have to return the Patrol bag since he shipped it in X-LONG when the rest of the kit is regular length.

BTW I'm 5'8 and the regular bag is just great - I'd say it would be fine to 5'10, 5'11 but I like a lil extra space for water etc. in the foot box (which is over-stuffed / double thick btw).

Really happy with this bag =)

Were you using the intermediate bag with the bivy but without the patrol bag?

No I used the entire kit. I didn't need the patrol bag that's for sure.

Here are the individual weights for my second set (Fiancee's Bag)

NOTE: The patrol bag is X-Long, I will weigh the regular when I get it.

    Compression Bag: 13.5 oz (Same!)
    Bivi: 2 lb 4.5 oz
    Patrol Bag (X-LONG) 2 lb 10 oz
Winter Bag 3 lb 15.5 oz

But so much better than the old "green monster" from the OP that is was worth it. We used this system in Norway in winter conditions. It was tolerable when you were laid out in an observation post at or below 0F. At night, when it was below that, we were always moving.

I liked the green patrol bag so much, I bought one right before I got out of the Marine Corps from the base exchange (for $38). It served me well on my AT thru-hike from Harper's Ferry all the way to Katahdin.

I would only recommend the old green monster to people I truly disliked!
