    Question Tarp lines

After the rats nest of reflect it from the storm last night I decided to take the lines off of the tarp and put them on the stakes instead. I figured they won't tangle as easy this way and connecting them at the tarp let's me adjust from inside. Now what method is best to connect them to my tarp? A simple Becket hitch keeps it hardware free and adjustable, or do I spend the money on hardware? Each reflect it line for the 6 perimeter tie outs is 4' , the doors are 5'. I've got 3" shock cord loops on each of the 10 grosgrain tabs for tensioners. I've also got the panel pulls that go out to a trekking pole with a 6' line from the pole to a stake. I had to switch over from regular stakes to nails year round BC all my msr and Sheppard's hook type kept getting bent. So, being on a budget what recommendations can you give me? Here's a pic of the lines wrapped around their nails for storage in their bag....

Man that would take a long long time to put these up from every tear down. I combine my left and right tie outs and combine them and do the "over the thumb and over the pinky" wrap. then I wrap tie them at the end. This way there are no loose strings hanging from the tarp and it's lightning fast way of storing line.

Thanks. It took me an hour to detangle them so I figured this way would keep it from happening again. Now I just need to figure out how I want to attach them to the tarp....

I would go with knots. I have had tarp worms disappear on the second outing. Stakes and reflective cord, not so much. You can make tensioners from soda can pop tabs. (As well as from beer cans)

Good point. It does take a few mins to wrap them around like that. How does everyone else that keeps them on their stakes instead of tarp do it? The " pinky thumb wrap" ?

That's what I was thinking. Keep it simple.

That's how I usually wrap them but I put it away in a hurry last time and didnt wrap the lines, hence the mess. I figured larks heading them to the stakes instead let's me adjust from inside the tarp and forces me to wrap them before putting away since they would def get tangled in the stake bag if not wrapped lol.

I generally go no hardware. I leave my line on the tarp and use a pile hitch to my stakes. I like Dutch and he has some awesome stuff. Having said that, Reflect It is going to give you problems with tangling. It is really soft and has no memory. I MUCH prefer Litesmith 1.1 reflective guyline or Z-packs Z-line (if you don't need reflective).
I have had no issues with tangling leaving all my lines (Litesmith 1.1 reflective) attached and rolled up in my Winter Palace through many trips over the last few years. HYOH, FWIW, etc.
