    Sleeping Bag UQ

I have a old Marmot 40 degree down mummy bag, is there an easy way to convert it to a UQ or should i purchase a UQ?

I tried it last night with pretty good success:

I haven't used it in the cold yet, but it was worth my time to take a stab at it.

Im no UQ expert but from what little I know, it may be difficult to turn a mummy bag into an UQ. I would assume youd have to find some way to detach the hood, open up the foot box at the end, and you would still have the zipper attached for no reason. You also wont get the differential baffels so you would have to make sure when you hang the UQ its not compressing the down minizing the warmth. May I ask why you would want to do this? It may be easier to just purchase a new one if the funds are their. I got a lot of UQ's to suggest to you but reading through the threads is the best way to decide on your own. I went with Perfect Trees and got a Winter Ptarmigan and love it.

Just thought it would be a neat project if it could be done easily.

OOOHHH JC, I hope my post dident come off as discouraging, I fully support your project and wold love to hear how it goes, Ive never attempted to make an UQ before so I really dont have any hands on sense of how to make one. And im sure its been done and works some way some how. I was just tossing around some foreseeable complications, but then again what do I know , Im sure some one on this forum has made it work for them....Good luck thread injecting

It didn't at all, My wife use to use that sleeping bag but she doesn't anymore. I would prob be better off selling it and putting the funds to a UQ.
