    sleeping pad for ridgerunner

I want to achieve a flatter lie in my ridgerunner. I tried a friend's sleeping pad that was 72 by 20 and it was good however it had a slow leak. My question is will a wider pad say 30 wide and a longer pad say 78 in work better. Or should I stick with the smaller pad..i tied a rei status wide and long but the vertical baffles just curled around me and was not comfortable..someone help please!!

Yes a long/wide mat is going to fill up the ridge runner better, more emphasis on the extra wide. The extra width is going to be what flattens out the lay, obviously. Being exactly six foot I can give or take the extra length but you're not going to find many pads that are only extra wide though there are exceptions out there. I've tried numerous different pads and the sweet spot, for me, is the Exped UL SIM LW, which is 25" x 77" x 1.5". I found, again for me, anything above the 1.5" thickness and I'm raised way to far above the hammock for my liking. Others have found success with thicker pads though. Generally I take a lynx now for backpacking but man, that pad, it just gives an amazing flat lay, as close as I've come to my bed in the air.

I believe so. Punkisdead on the recent RR cult picture thread mentioned that exact pad in the XL insulated and says he loves it. I think the secret everyone is using on those 3" air pads is to under inflate it a bit. I tried that on a Exped Hyperlight I have but I found it too squishy, which is why I went closed cell. I sleep on a firm tempur mattress though so my personal tastes run a little bit towards sleeping on a board :P

I use the Klymit VLuxe insulated and am very happy with it. I'm 6'4" and wide shouldered and it gives me full bottom side insulation. The design of the baffles keep it from 'wrapping' too much.

Just go ahead and order an UnderQuilt. The Warbonnet Lynx UQ is a perfect match for the RR. If you want to save some $$ then go to Arrowhead and order a Ridge Creek.

I also like the klymit insulated vluxe. Very comfortable. I plan on buying the arrowhead full length winter when they come out.
