Alrighty! I'm just about packed. Just dropping the pooch at the sitters in the am and heading out. If anyone is bringing any wood I'll be bringing my wagon for easy transport.

Work has been crazy this week. Don't think now I can come and am disappointed since the weather forecast is looking good. Hope you have a great time. Maybe I can make it some other time. I like Minister Creek and camped there twice this summer. Nice trails.
I'll be up Friday afternoon. Will attempt to procure some firewood en route.

Had a great time at Minister Creek this weekend. Thanks for some great company Capt Jack!
The weather was Amazing for August! Nice and cool during the day and a nip in the air at night. Just how I like it.
One of the main things I wanted to accomplish was to get some hiking in and see how my body fared. I was pretty happy. I hiked up to the lookout with low to moderate pain, which was cool with me. The hike was challenging as it was pretty steep and rocky. The hiking poles helped a ton and I just kept moving. worked out great. Well, I got to the lookout and took my camera out only to realize that the batteries were dead. I also left my phone in the car so I had no pictures. This made me determined to do the hike again on Sunday as I wanted some pics. So after jcksparow left, I tore down camp and put some food, water and my hammock in a pack and headed back up. Took some pictures and set my hammock up on the ridge of the overlook. It was real nice. Took a nap, had some food and drinks and then headed home later in the afternoon. Great Weekend! Very relaxing. The only thing that went remotely wrong was a road closure near Minister Creek that add quite a bit to the drive but it was nice out and I just went with it.

A grand weekend indeed! Weather couldn't have been nicer. My massive new Kelty tarp was completely unnecessary, but it was good to have some practice rigging it up all the same. Also never thought I’d have to break out my heavier quilts in late August, but was quite happy for the chance to do so!
I feel as though I should be the one thanking LuvmyBonnet, both for organizing the trip and generously sharing some quality fireside conversation and libations. It was a small hang, but one I’m particularly glad not to have missed!
Bonnet, this is just for you:

Picked up a 12 footer a month or so back when Amazon had them on sale for $30--I think it's the same one you have. Didn't really need it, but figured it would be a good loaner or something the wife could use in the winter. Honestly ended up liking it more than I thought I would. It's far too heavy and bulky to be ideal for backpacking, but the coverage was impressive. There was no way I could hang it on the straight diagonal, so I ended up coming in 2 tie-out points on either end to connect to the CRL in an asym configuration. Hung it high and wide and tied out the 2 long corners to nearby trees for a nice roof that let me enjoy the breeze.
