    3 sets of quilts?

Currently I have a set of 0 and 40 degree quilts. I have trip scheduled for this fall. The average lows for the region will probably be in the 40s but it is isn't unheard of to drop in the 20's.

With the range of lows being what it was, I had originally planned on bringing my 0 degree quilts. The more I thought about it, and being the gear-a-holic that I am, I figured I would be better off with a 20 degree set instead.

I am an average to warm sleeper with slightly cold feet.

With the possibility of having 3 full sets of quilts, I started wondering. What would be the best combination for all season use?

0,20,40 - This seems to be the "standard" that I see everywhere. My thoughts on this is that the 20 would be used for most of the time and when it got too hot for the 20, wouldn't the 40 be overkill as well?
0,20,50 - This would still provide the same low end coverage but would be a smaller/lighter load for summer use. This would leave a gap in the middle range.
0,30,50 - This would provide a slightly smaller/lighter load for both shoulder and summer seasons but leaves more of a gap on the low end.

There is always the combination of using a lower rated UQ with a higher TQ, etc.
Those that have multiple sets, what did you choose and why? Would you change anything?

I like 0*, 20* and 40* quilts. I can't see any reason to buy 50* quilts because I don't camp in high temperatures anyway. Since I use the 10* buffer rule (use quilts rated at least 10* higher than expected low), I can't see much reason in buying 30* quilts either.

    40* quilts - About the highest I've ever used them is 70* F, the lowest 42* F.
    20* quilts - I use these about 80% of the time, from 45* F down to 30* F.
0* quilts - These usually come out only when the temp is 30* F or below. If it gets any colder than about 10* F, I'm stacking quilts!

Thanks for the insight. I do a fair bit of hanging in the summer as well. Definitely been a few nights above 70.

I've been going with a 0° w/ 3oz overstuff TQ/UQ and a CDT TQ/UQ w/ overstuff for my down sets. My synthetics are a 10° UQ, 30° Snugpak set, 50° set, Snugpak jungle blanket UQ and regular Snugpak jungle blanket. I've got some overlap in coverage but it gives me options. Ive been using the 0° most of the time below 30°, unless its wet than I'll use synthetic. Ill use the CDT UQ from around 35°( w/ my Warbonnet XL sock) to 50°.....All depends on what the weather conditions and temp are really. The synthetics are good from 10° with the OneTigris UQ up to 70° with the Snugpak jungle blanket UQ and regular jungle blanket. My main sets are the 0°, 40°CDT and 30° Snugpak though, the rest fill in where needed pretty much.

In Texas we see a lot of days over 70*, so a 50* set will certainly be in my future. We dont often dip below the 20* mark around here, and if we do the lowest I've seen are single digits. So a 20* and 50* set would be ideal for me.

I would figure for OH a 0*, 20*, & 50* would be ideal, if you camp above 70*.

I'm an average temp sleeper with cold feet. Hammock gear has a great option where I got my 20degree incubator and burrow with an extra ounce of down in the foot/leg area. Works perfectly for me. I'd like to expand my quilt range though I think the econ series in the 40's would be just right for what I do. East TN, rarely into the 0 range short of mountain tops.
