Currently I have a set of 0 and 40 degree quilts. I have trip scheduled for this fall. The average lows for the region will probably be in the 40s but it is isn't unheard of to drop in the 20's.
With the range of lows being what it was, I had originally planned on bringing my 0 degree quilts. The more I thought about it, and being the gear-a-holic that I am, I figured I would be better off with a 20 degree set instead.
I am an average to warm sleeper with slightly cold feet.
With the possibility of having 3 full sets of quilts, I started wondering. What would be the best combination for all season use?
0,20,40 - This seems to be the "standard" that I see everywhere. My thoughts on this is that the 20 would be used for most of the time and when it got too hot for the 20, wouldn't the 40 be overkill as well?
0,20,50 - This would still provide the same low end coverage but would be a smaller/lighter load for summer use. This would leave a gap in the middle range.
0,30,50 - This would provide a slightly smaller/lighter load for both shoulder and summer seasons but leaves more of a gap on the low end.
There is always the combination of using a lower rated UQ with a higher TQ, etc.
Those that have multiple sets, what did you choose and why? Would you change anything?
