    Hello

Thought that I would introduce myself like everyone else. My name's Andrew and I recently purchased a DD hammock and tarp. I've used it in the garden just to check that I can get it to hang and planning to use it properly next week when I go bikepacking.

Had my first hang last night. A few things I learnt:

    I need an underquilt
Getting into a sleeping bag inside a hammock is a pain!
Think the trees need to be further apart!

Other than that I had a really good night's sleep!

Congrats on the first hang! The trees do look a bit close, but if that's all you have available, then go for it. As for an underquilt, it's the best form of bottom insulation, imo. However, you still need top insulation- either by way of a sleeping bag or a top quilt. You can "convert" your sleeping bag to function as a top quilt by zipping it up from the foot end about 1/3 of the way. Then rotate it 90° so that you can lay it over the top of you. Essentially, you're creating a foot box- which is much easier to climb in and out of.

Yes I was a bit limited with the choice of trees! Why didn't I think of that with the sleeping bag! For me the highlight was that I didn't end up on the ground in there middle of the night!
