Congrats on the first hang! The trees do look a bit close, but if that's all you have available, then go for it. As for an underquilt, it's the best form of bottom insulation, imo. However, you still need top insulation- either by way of a sleeping bag or a top quilt. You can "convert" your sleeping bag to function as a top quilt by zipping it up from the foot end about 1/3 of the way. Then rotate it 90° so that you can lay it over the top of you. Essentially, you're creating a foot box- which is much easier to climb in and out of.
