Guys/Gals,
Is there an area near Savage falls that has a clear view of the sky to watch the eclipse? I've only been to the western sides of this park and was thinking this would be a good area to catch the falls and eclipse.

Not really as both sides have lots of trees on top of both sides

I've hiked the east side (Savage Gulf Ranger Station). Most camping areas (Hobb's Cabin, Dinky Line) are heavily treed. The parking lot at the Ranger Station (and near Savage Station Campground) is somewhat open and you might have a decent view there. Obviously the campgrounds in the gulch would prohibit good views. I think you could have decent views on one of the lookout points from the North Rim Trail or the South Rim Trail. However, I'm not sure where the sun would be this time of year in relationship to the gulch so I can't recommend which side to be on. I would hate for you to choose the wrong side ....
Thanks for the info guys. We ended up at the parking lot at the ranger station on the east side of the park and the total eclipse was spectacular.
