NJ > Pine Barrens Aug 26-27

    I grabbed site 4 at Batona for Sat/Sun 8/26-27.

Couple more sites still available as of tonight.

Weather forecast is pretty nice, a front pushed thru and we should see nighttime temps in the 50's and reasonable humidity levels. Finally.

We are currently 3 and a dog.
    I'll have plenty of firewood.

Food etc is Bring Your Own but naturally there's always some to share.

    Low key
Will be trying a few different prep/cook methods playing with some new toys.

All are welcome as space permits.
    Have sherpas, will travel...

Wish I could make it. My kids are coming in from Denver and Boston to spend the weekend. Then we're hosting a block party Friday night.

    Enjoy!

I am working on the logistics. Silvr Surfr will be happy to know I am considering a hike in. Depending on the starting point, maybe 6-8-10 miles? Without being dropped off on the side of the road, what is a good starting point? Can I walk the tracks from Atsion?

Atsion to Batona (6 miles) is a nice hike - though it can be ticky this time of year. Getting around the very large mudhole at High Crossing can be a bit of a challenge.

Dang, I was just thinking about you guys. I was at Great Adventure yesterday and telling my daughter about the trip up Apple Pie Hill fire tower. I am, unfortunately, otherwise occupied this weekend. Have fun!

Other option would be out and back to the fire tower from Batona. That would be about 8 miles round trip.

That mud hole I believe has been filled. Last I hiked it all of high crossing was flat and clear.

Well, they better put up hidden cameras and patrol the area with drones because that was a well-loved mudhole for the off-road vehicles!

We are currently 4 confirmed, 3 tentative.

Still 3 sites available if we need to add room.
    Sites 6,8 and 10

There will be a couple 2-3 kids in our group or as I like to think of them, tinder gatherers and firebuilders.
