    A weekend on Loch Lomond

I got a late shout about a possible trip to Loch Lomond this weekend, I asked the boss and she said go for it (must be after something) so the bags were packed and I was off.
I should have been visiting the Brass Monkeys bushcraft meet for just the day on Saturday but the three day pass out from Carol was too good to knock.

We managed to tuck ourselves away into a south westerly facing bay on Inchconnachan, luckily avoiding most of the baltic winds that were blasting down the length of the loch all weekend. It was cold and we thought probably well into the minuses.
I also got to try out my new down underblanket from Ed which was soooooo toasty. Also tried a Blackbird on the second night, just to convince myself I needed one.

A few pics then, nothing much really just water, trees and wallabies with some sunsets and crap moon shots.

Thanks for the report. I am a bit confused tho. At first i thought i was in Scotland , the OZ, then i thought Scotland again. What are the Wallabies doing there??. Nice pics of the Loch. I'm curious about the Pack vrs Mad River . How they compare. ONe last thing, you do need a WBBB so go ahead now.

errr. Is my knowledge of geography really that bad or are there wallabies in the UK?

I thought those things lived in Australia and that it was summer/fall in the southern hemisphere. The picture of sun set/rise is great. Waking up and having a coffee with that view would make my day.

The wallabies were introduced to the island in the 1920s by an eccentric lady who built a summer house there. For some reason they seem to be able to cope with the scottish winters and do very well on the blaeberries that grow there.

    Wallabies....wow, who'd have thought that.
The tarp is a DD 3x3m, popular amongst the bushcraft fraternity over here

The hammock is a Nomads Land XXL, made from parachute silk and really soft and comfy, no ridges under the legs etc. I borrowed a Blackbird for the second night though.

The underquilt is one of Eds Snugfits, superb purchase.

The bag is an Alpkit Pipedream 600, 600g of 750+ fill. Comes in around 900g I think and good for -10 c
