Hang Spots to see the Northern Lights

I just read this article on places to see the Northern Lights within the US, and wondered if anyone here can confirm seeing these lights. Has there been any Northern Lights hangs in the past? One of the pictures in the article shows two hammocks in the background. I have never experienced such a phenomenon, and would like to see them in the future.

This is something my fiance and I have been wanting to do, I'd love to be able to go see them. The only place I know of is in Alaska. Other then that the best place I've heard over the world is Sweden.
Where the trail ends the adventure begins!

    Canada works too.

Definitely worth seeing at least once in your life time. I seemed to have taken the experience for granted.

I have seen them as far south as Pennsylvania dark sky areas but not so very common.

While camping on Cote Nord in Quebec, CA and on Gaspe Penninsula and on Newfoundland much more common. Very cool. Get up north is my advice.

As much as I would love to visit Canada (Banff, Jasper, etc), that trip is even further into the future. But when I do go, is there a "season" where the lights are most prominent?

Being from Calgary, I have never seen the northern lights in Banff. maybe there were too many lights where I was? - beautiful place though! You're more likely going to see them in Jasper, if Alberta is your goal. Truly though, NW Ontario has the best I've ever seen.

As far as time of year? Any time with a cooler night. Late summer - late spring. In the summer, you might get some light white whispiness, but it's not the colourful dance you can get other times of the year.

Candle Lake, Saskatchewan Canada. Fellow hanging buddy is the guy with the camera. Warrior hammock lol.

We get great lights away from the city. The fall is a great time to see them.

When I was a kid, I saw them from the north shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota. There was solar activity and the lights looked like glowing, moving theatre curtains in the sky. I stared at it for hours. We were there for the smelt run in the spring.
