Naomi Peak and High Creek Lake

I'm not good at trip reports, but I thought that some of you might enjoy some pictures of the high country from my neck of the woods.

We started Saturday morning at Tony Grove Lake (elevation ~8000ft) and hiked the 3.5 mile trail to Naomi Peak (elevation ~10,000 ft). There is a lot of smoke from all the wildfires burning across the western US, but the views were still breathtaking.

After taking in the view from the peak we hiked down the other side of the ridge to where we made camp at High Creek Lake (elevation 8800 ft)

That is such a beautiful area. I didn't realize the shear magnitude of these mountains in the western US till this week I've been in the Rocky Mnt National Park and surrounding area. They are indescribable. The mountain lakes are beautiful and the hikes are tough but worth it. The humidity is non existent You are blessed to live in this area.

You have my sympathies. My parents drove down the north-west coast last week and couldn't believe the smoke there.

We've had our share of smaller ones this year. In fact the last time I hiked this trail with my brother we watched a fire burning up the side of a peak 5 miles or so to the south.
