Thanks AlaskaChad, I've read some of the threads on tarps for double-chameleons and some issues people hit.

IMHO, for an extra $15 and a 3/4 ounce weight penalty, a 12' ridge line is the way to go.

Thanks El Gordo. I'm considering this, so it's good to get opinions to help me make my mind up. Do you find that being longer means it's harder to find a good spot, where trees are far enough apart?

I can't say you will never struggle with trees too close, but I've had more trouble with trees too far apart. Of course, that's a problem for the hammock suspension, rather than the tarp setup.

For those times when weight is not such an issue, I like the extra room for a backpacking chair with a 12' tarp. Also, I would say you get better storm protection, but I don't want to start an argument with any of the 11' tarp folks who have more bad weather experience than I do. If you want to go minimalist, but still have confidence, 11' is the way to go.

When I first got the Winter Palace, I was using it for tandem hanging, so I wanted as much (cuben) tarp as I could get. Now I use a custom tarp for dual hanging.
