    Decisions decisions... Help?

So I'm looking at upgrading from my starter ENO gear. I'm planning on getting a HG Quest tarp, but what I need help choosing between is a War Bonnet Black Bird or Dutch's Half Wit. I'm about 5'10 and weigh about 250. Cost isn't a deciding factor as I've got enough for either one saved up. Thoughts on each?

Comes down to full bug net coverage( Blackbird) or just enough bugnet to cover your head and shoulders (Half-Wit).
Look at the Dutchware Chameleon too if cost is no factor.

go to a group hang and test them out before you buy, I have both and prefer one over the other for different reasons and at different times. Who knows your experience may vary.

I'd recommend the Warbonnet BB as it comes with a full bug net and these are nice in all weather conditions. Keeps the bugs out in summer and holds a bit of heat and blocks a lot of wind in winter.

Ah, the famous Shug! Your video series for newbies was quite helpful my first few hangs. After reading your comment I did actually look into the Chameleon, while it is slightly more expensive, I can have enough saved up for that in a few more weeks (Whatever's left from my self imposed weekly allowance is what I use to fund my gear purchases). While the complete system is still just a few ounces heavier than what I had been looking at, it'll still save a pound and a half of weight with the Quest tarp over my current system.

I'd have to agree with the clown, Blackbird or Chameleon would be two of my three choices. The third being a Dream Hammock Sparrow.

The Half Wit has a very specific use in my opinion. Light weight backpacking. If I was counting grams, I would put the Half Wit on my list. Sorta an apples to oranges thing.

Well like I said, I'm now looking at the Chameleon versus the Blackbird. The Half Wit doesn't seem quite as versatile now that I've looked at the Chameleon. The fact it's made a short drive from home is a plus.

I'm a little lighter than you but same height and I started with the WBBB. Then some bastid named Stargazer/Chazz let me lay in his WBBBXLC and I sold my WBBB as quick as possible!!!! The XLC is just more comfy if you are pushing 6'. That's my experience! Get the Warbonnet Wooki XL to go with it. No fuss underquilt and they are toasty warm! Been down to 14 degrees with mine and it's a 20 degree Wooki. If you are going to do more winter hanging, maybe think about the Winter WOoki. But with a double layer 3 season Wooki you can always add a layer in betwix the layers.

Oh, and Thank you NEHHA Spring Hang 2017 for costing me so much money this summer! Hahahaha!!! Can't wait until next year!
