I have decided I want a physical book to take with me that will be useful for hammock camping.

If you are car camping then go for both. It took me less than an hour to read through Derek's Ultimate Hang but it's a good reference book so I would probably recommend Ed's book.
I'd get Ultimate Hang...way more updated.

The Ultimate Hang for sure. Plus, it's about to become more of a collector's item! Derek has been hard at work on a second edition and has been posting teasers of his new illustrations and such.
It's an amazing book. I know everything that's in there by now, but still find myself reading it on a super regular basis because it's just so clear and concise about everything. Really high quality work, and a fun way to revisit the basics you may have forgotten.
Get it before it's gone!

I would go with The Ultimate Hang book.

Well, tapped the little piggy bank on the head and ordered both - so that should make me a better hanger.
