    Stacking Underquilts

Have a trip planned this coming weekend and the forecast temps are mid 20's. For me personally my 20 degree UQ and TQ will keep me alive to 20 degrees, chilly, fitful night's sleep mid to upper 20's, and 35 is about the max lower limit where I feel I can sleep well. I thought I could improve my underneath insulation by using my Arrowhead Equipment Ridgecreek 3/4 (3 season, 25 degree rating) and my Warbonnet 3 season Lynx (20 degree). Worked good in testing. Pics below...

I borrowed the head end mini-biner from the Ridgecreek for something, but the loop easily attached to the Lynx's minibiner.

The cuts of each quilt are different. The Ridgecreek comes up a bit higher on the sides than the Lynx.

I bet your going to be really comfortable. Layer in my opinion, is the way to go.

I've been planning for some time to make some quilts and hoping to do something like this.

On top of layering quilts, I've had success with a hammock sock. It's definitely warmer with one. I've heard claims of a 10* bump.

My only UQ at present is a CDT that has a snap in second layer. "They" say the CDT'S are good for about 40 degrees, and I concur. I have had my UQ with both layers down to the upper teens and been quite comfortable, nearly getting a bit too warm. I think stacking them will be plenty sufficient for you.

Glad I came across your comment....I too have the DIY CDT UQ. I made two, one for my son and myself. I was pricing lower temp UQ's but will try stacking the CDT's like you have and see how well it works for me.
