    Squeaky wall hardware replacement options

    I use some 1,200 lbs surface tie down points as anchors for our hammocks indoors (my wife and I are full time hammock sleepers) but they are rather squeaky when the hammock is swinging and the walls are getting a little dented behind the d-rings. So I'd like to figure out a replacement, preferably one with no metal to metal contact. My initial idea was a continuous loop of 4 mm amsteel in place of the d-ring but I'm worried about abraision. Any better ideas out there?

    Here are the surface tie downs in question:

    I installed the ENO Hammock Hanging Kit which is a metal-on-metal method, but because both metal surfaces are plated and smooth, it's not squeaky whatsoever. Perhaps that will change over time since it's been about 6 months since installation. There is only one point of contact between the metal pieces so that probably is a factor as well. The hardware in your pic shows lots of surface area that rubs together.

    To avoid metal on metal and squeaking:

    sew a small loop of webbing about 20" circumference. Larkshead that onto your D-ring and clip the hammock on to the loop.

    D-RING -> WEBBING LOOP -> HAMMOCK CARABINER -> HAMMOCK

    I just use eyebolts in the studs and have had no problems for years.

    I forgot who posted these originally, but they came from US Cargo Control. 20170921_184408.jpg

    You can adjust the height (I got the 12" size.) You can attach your hammock with a carbiner, soft shackle, whoopie sling, tree straps or just about anything else.

    The double stud fitting is currently on clearance for 99cents.

    I am thinking of getting the 48" rails so the boys can bunk up Gilligan's Island style.

    Thank you both for the replies. I may give the Eno hang kit a go, I looked at it when I first thinking about making the switch but went with the die down points because they were a lot less expensive and had a higher weight rating.

    I should have given the full suspension outline it goes D-Ring ->continuous amsteel loop -> carabiner -> hammock

    So the only metal to metal contact is between the plate and the D-ring.

    Do they rattle a lot when you swing? We used something similar at an old job I had and they were strong, but noisy.

    Eyebolts have no moving parts

    That's an interesting idea but looking around online the eyebolts with a lag screw base aren't welded at the base of the ring so they have pretty low weight limits. The solid rings have higher weight limits but require a nut on the backside which isn't possible with my walls.

    Before doing anything else, try a wee bit of lube.
