“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”
― Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Anyone know anything about Hammocks in Ontario parks? I have searched the "rules and regulations" that contain 80% of how we'll take your money and 20% of how you can use the site. But nothing about hammocks, hanging things from trees or attaching things to trees.
I like metric, I use metric, for those of you who don't ... you should, for those of you who won't ... here.

I've stayed at a number of provincial parks and never had any problems using my hammock. That includes Sharbot Lake, Charleston Lake, Fitzroy Harbour, Presqu'ile, Ferris, the Pinery & Awenda.
I'm not sure I'd want to hammock at Sandbanks. The root systems on those trees are none too stable.
There's an Ontario hang being organized for Bon Echo in August, in case you missed the thread.
Aw Drat! We're going to Sandbanks, a big cousin camping trip. Was really looking forward to introducing our hammocks.
Guess I should look into some form of hammock stand. Good thing it's only car camping.
As for the Ontario Hang, I've seen it and sent my available dates.

Statistically speaking you're probably OK to hang from the trees. They haven't had a death since 2006, and that was likely due to rot rather than roots.
Deer don't do the same kind of damage a hammock does. Hammock essentially girth the tree. In other words, they cause damage the entire circumference of the tree. This is one of the fastest ways to kill a tree.
Whereas deer and other wildlife typically only cause damage to one side of a tree--albeit sometimes significant.
Far and away the best way to deal with State Parks. I hung in at least a dozen Florida State Parks, but only had a couple of encounters with Rangers. One of them got his pen and notebook out to write down website addresses I was giving him about hammocks. I'll bet a paycheck I converted that dude.
Trust nobody!
