I've seen this kind of hanging netting a few times before (New Zealand / Australia area). The only difference was it hung on both sides, and was not attached at all like Dutch's. Apparently it works - something about mosquitos not flying up? Not sure about noseums.... I admit though, I'd have to use it a few times before I could relax and trust it.
Though I haven't tried it yet, the weighted netting always seemed to make sense to me. I imagine it's easier to get out of than sticking your foot into the shock cord at 3am. Further, I'd guess that this type of setup makes it easier to attach/detatch quilts etc.
If you sleep in a bed most anywhere in Asia or India. You have bug netting draped around the bed. It's working for millions of people...

I have used a net that just hangs off my ridge line for years. not attached to my hammock at all except where it velcros around my suspension. Never had issues with musquitos.....that said......spiders on the other hand have been a plague. Think their coming across on my suspension then crawling down and back up the inside. Just something to think about.
Can you soak in Permethryn the continuous loops?
