My first hang was in Maine a few weekends ago, and the acorns were no joke. All around where I slept, they fell green, dense, and from a height that allowed them to carry enough speed to leave welts and then some. At least one every ten to fifteen seconds. Chipped teeth--if you sleep on your back with a wide grin--is a legitimate concern. If you're lucky, you get some warning as they cut through lower branches on their way onto your head. If you're not, they manage to find a clear path downward and gather even more speed until they're brought to a sudden halt by your inner left thigh (for example).
I have the bruises to prove it. Still a fantastic weekend. Enjoy the rest of your week.

Great, great write-up! So happy to hear you’re getting a nice extended stay in the woods, and in comfort and style!
Also, absolutely share your sentiments on always taking a pic of the setup so that you can look at it longingly at work! Makes the day spent at a computer much more tolerable. Man, oh man has hammocking made me completely lose interest in my work. It’s becoming a bit of a problem!

Nice write and a sounds like a really good time. Here it's apples falling off the trees around us. Thump thump at 0230 in the morning can get your attention for sure.
Take care, Al
Thanks for a wonderful write up. I love being awake long enough to see a few meteors but you're right, the hammock is just SO comfy.
I'm curious if your warmth and the chilly night air made for a lot of condensation on your mozzie net?
Great reports! I enjoyed the adventure of it all and had a couple of good chuckles.
I had a mouse land with a thump on my hammock netting exactly and precisely over my right eye. The sound instantly woke me and I slapped the mouse’s underside and away he went.
I tried to convince myself it was a little tree frog.
