SLD Trail Lair in the wild

Nice weather to go tarpless. Hiked up to Henninger Flats campground above Los Angeles. 3 miles up and 1400 feet of elevation gain gives some great views. I really enjoy the SLD trail Lair.

Nice! How was the air up there? That Trail Lair is one nice hammock.

Heck of view! One of the first things I noticed when I got into my TL for the first time was how great of a view I had of the outside surroundings from the inside of the hammock.

Just got an email today from Jared stating my Winter Haven tarp and Tree Runner hammock are complete and ready to ship out. I'll be enjoying them this weekend for sure!

I've never had one but I will one day. Jared deserves his own thread - more so than some that have their own.

Thank you for the great pics!

Very nice! How were the flys/bugs at the campground? I was in the Cleveland National Forest off Orgega Hwy Thur-Sat and the small black flys were bad. What day of the week did you go and was it crowded? I'm thinking about heading there in a week or two mid week for one night. Thanks.

Some flys but not too bad. Weekends get busy but they have 3 levels of campsites. During the week you might have the place to yourself. Friday night there were 3 campers. They are upgrading the water system. Right now they have a few spigots working but I think they are still advertising to bring all the water you need. It is a really great spot so close to the city but you don't get the riff raff because the hike is limiting.

I was hoping that having to hike in would rule out a certain element. I'm sure it would be significantly different if you could drive in. Thanks for the info! It's hard to believe there's no charge to camp and firewood is provided.

I have to chime in and say that I bought a Trail Lair off the forum here and LOVE it! After trying several budget hammocks, the Trail Lair was my hammock of choice and I could not be happier. I can't wait to get mine out now that I'm in California and hopefully see some similar, wonderful high desert views!

Thought I'd add a pic or two or three of my 'Lair in the wild. Thumbs up to the OP for starting this well deserved thread for Jared and Simply Light Designs.
