    Plastic S-biner for ridgeline

I love using the nite-ize plastic s-biners for my ridgeline setup as they are only 1g each but I've always hated that they have that little extra "hook" inside compared the small metal ones. I use mason line for my ridgeline and it's just small enough that it was always kind of a pain unclipping the s-biner because it would catch on that hook so I finally did something about it. Now my mason line slips right out when I hold the gate open for removal.

Take some forceps and clip it so that it holds both of the metal gates open (I already removed the nubs on this one before I decided to take a picture).

Then take a razor knife and just shave off that little nub that makes the hook.

I too despise these little indentations. This is a very good idea when those aren't needed or wanted. Thanks for sharing.

I suspect you decrease the weight rating by removing those. But I guess those are not exactly super high strength anyways, so who cares??
