    See it here.....
Shug's also got that in one of his videos so you can see how good/adjustable the coverage is. I think it would fit a Blackbird really well.

-Shug, do you remember which vid that was in?

some good ideas. Still favoring making my own now that I have it in my head. Looking at Speer's website I could get Rip-Stop or Sil Nylon. I know Sil is waterproof but probably not breathable. Is Ripstop water resistant or do I have to treat it to be DWR?

    i have an idea

I have a just Jeff pack cover my wife made that will more than likely cover most if not all the Yetti. But I am not sure why it is needed if you have a tarp that will cover all your hammock??? I have yet to have water on my supershelter I was using before the "great move" to WBBB.

Also I'm thinking of making it with the same suspension system as the yeti as I have a ton of shock chord. I also want to put some sort of a trim around the edges what fabric can I use?
It will fray some ... I go around the edge with a lighter ... carefully and quickly. Use shears or a blade. Easy.
If you want to trim it use grosgain.

I don't recall off hand but it is in several ... maybe "Hushed Hammocking" and "St. Croix Saunter"....
It does fit a BB .... mine has drawstrings on both ends to cinch it. slightly tapered at the foot.

Go with rip-stop. Water resistant and will be fine.

I use mine to break the wind and to add warmth .... never needed it for wet weather but have been close to needing it in high winds and blowing rain. Just to keep the mist off. Would help in fog as well for that reason. Always bring it on a longer trip.

    OK thanks Shug.

What would be better 1.9 or 1.1 Ripstop?

Either is fine Raul... I used 1.1.
    Bit lighter but hardly noticeable.

Yes I think I've decided to do a DIY seems fun. My girlfriend has a sewing machine she never uses. I'll be freeing up some time in a month or so. Once I have all the materials it would seem to be a day project at best.

I'm thinking of tapering near the ends and running shock chord along it like the yeti has so the installation is a 1,2,3 process.

I just sewed some loops on the ends of mine ... ala JRB style and just have some thin shock cord. It is good that it is a bit loose and saggy so as not to compress and UQ down.
Look forward to seeing your outcome.

Yes the compression was my main concern as well. That will be the play time in allowing enough shock chord to let it hang loosely enough as not to compress the yeti.

I'm still playing with some ideas but I do want to keep it around 5-6 ounces.

looking at 3 yards (3 feet per yard = 9 feet) at 1.1 oz = 3.3 oz plus shock chord and losing some fabric due to the tapering should get me to what I want. Take into consideration as to where I usually lay in the Black Bird as I'm only 5'4" I think that should be enough.

want to order a DD weathershield for my HH

I went on the HH site to look at the SS and I can't justify the cost of that right now. I looked at the DD poncho and the HH modifications and shipped to canada it would be less than 60 dollars Canadian with shipping.

My question is how does the DD JRB mod work with the HH entrance? I don't want to modify my hammock.

also i assume you can add a CCF wide pad between the layers
