    Grayson Highlands

I recently got a chance to spend a couple nights near Mt Rogers and Grayson Highlands. Thanks to everyone who answered questions on this research thread https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...Highlands-help

I started at Grindstone Campground and headed towards the AT and Mt Rogers. I found a place to hang near Brier Ridge that gave easy access to views

    Saw some of the ponies

First night was an awesome sunset

Early to bed, and woke to fog

It was beautiful once the clouds lifted, but I could have done without all the dayhikers

Unfortunately, the clouds came back a couple hours too early and I did not get another sunset.

Woke up the next morning to more fog/clouds and headed back to my car. I'll be back, but hopefully in the winter time with fewer people around.

Lots more details and photos here https://backpackandbeer.blogspot.com...mt-rogers.html

Not that I'm into pony's, but it does look o so cute in its little cotton socks...good looking trip, Scott.
Mountain views are good for the soul....& getting to them is good for my waistline.

Luckily the socks are better than my feet! I've always hiked with liner socks, but decided to try the toed version on a couple of trips. They worked well, but still undecided on the "toe-jam" feel.

Where did you hang? There are so many awesome views that I'm tempted to bring a tent next time and camp out on one of the ridges away from a lot of the crowds, but I don't really want to sleep on the ground though
