I had some other things I was going work on during lunch but when I saw this was up, well...priorities shifted - there's always tomorrow (unless pt 2 is up by then)! It looks like a lot of fun. I hope you enjoyed your time in New England. Rocky & Rooty is pretty much par for course around here. Your trips on SHT and to BWCA have put those on my hit list!

Those trails will seem easy after the LT!

Got me those wings and watched me some Hickory Brothers in the treetops of Vermont with the Maple King(.com) . Now my belly is full, my mind is happy and all is well.

Those peaks are so high. I got a little queasy. I'm sitting here at about 20' above sea level. Even the clouds were looking in my window wondering how to get up there.

Shug you do not realized how blessed you are to have such a great friend for that many years and he loves to hike to boot. I envy you guys as I wish we had such a great hiking partner. That area looks rugged and beautiful at the same time. Some of that area looks sorta "Lord of the Ringish". Thanks for taking us along on your trip and thanks for sharing. It's great you finally found the home of the Maple King as that's one question we needed answers to
One curiosity question. Did you drive though Canada to Vermont or through the US?

I did not go through Canada...went through Chicago to see my daughter.
It is very "Ringish"

You're right about the up and down.. I think over my 40 miles earlier this year, there was maybe 12ft of flat easy walking. Great seeing you guys hiking the Long Trail!

Ah yes! I've been patiently waiting for this trip video. Can't wait to get home from work, make a cup of coffee, sit outside on the back deck in this newly welcomed cool weather (finally can turn the air off!!!) to watch and enjoy!

Fall was in Full Glory there.

Enjoying the ramble, shug...loved that windy section, tree canopies wildly waving around in the background.... looking forward to part two.

Indeed we've had some unusual weather here in VT this year. Some big wet weather with long hot periods - with a few surprise cold snaps thrown in. We finally had our first frost and now I am pulling out the tomatoes and peppers.
I think it is finally fall here now and the temps have returned to normal for the time of year. Great to see another video of your travels!
Hope you made it far enough south to satisfy your yearning to stretch your legs!

Drove through southern Vermont but hiked as far south as Waterville. You have an amazing state.

We only had the 8 days so hope to return and do more in the future. Once our knees get back to normal!!!

I stopped to hotel it twice on the way and once on the way home.
