    Don't overthink this. Just get some 1" webbing/strap and some strap adjusters from the hardware store. Should be less than $20 for all of it. Add carabiners if you want to be able to quickly attach/reattach the hammock, but that's optional.

    I recommend you avoid metal on metal contacts, so avoid the chain.

    yes, good advice. I always try to avoid metal on metal and rope on rope.

    One thing to make sure of with the eye bolts is, if there is a division/crease where the eye comes together with the neck of the bolt, make sure it's on the up side on your final turn. If it's facing down, with all the forces on it, whatever suspension your using can work its way into the crack, and you don't need that.

    I concur, metal to metal sucks, unless you like squeaking.

    And you're not camping, so you can simply use a rope if you so desire. No tree will be strangled in this hanging.
