Daisy Chain vs 1/8 whoopies ?

I’m a big guy, keep this in mind 6’4” 330lbs. I originally used some atlas straps. The sewing on the joints began to give, so I switched and now use 3000lb tree huggers and 1/8 amsteel whoopies. Which work great, but I miss the simplicity of the atlas straps. I was thinking of going to the daisy chain since it’s joints are woven. Will they hold up better or will I end up going back to the whoopies? Weight is not an issue, my big rear finding the ground at 2 in the morning is. How are your daisy’s holding up with bigger guys? Thanks

My wife and I double hang from Dutch's daisy chain used as a hugger. Together we're maybe 300lbs. From the hugger, we use soft shackles to attach individual dyneema webbing for each hammock. Used this setup quite a few times now and no signs of distress. I know our use is not exactly the same as yours, but maybe it's an indicator. My wife has been hanging nightly indoors with daisy chain for the better part of a year now.

BTW, I heat cut them in the center of the loops and then box stitch the ends. I know it's not necessary, but I do it for my own piece of mind.

I'm 290. I have used Kammok python straps..Polyester daisy chain strap with no probs. They were heavy however, so I tried the 7/64th whoopies. I found that i prefer cinch buckles with straps for ease of adjustment and overall performance. I just switched to my new suspension of choice, the Dutch Cinch Beetle Suspension system. I also use Dutch's new polypro/dyneema straps and ye old marlin spike hitch knot using either a biner or a thick as your thumb 4 inch long stick as the MSH toggle. In the end, everyone hangs the way they like best. Hang your own hang, as they say.

Doesn’t seem like you are getting much feedback on Dutch’s daisy chains so, even though I’m shy of 200 lbs, I’ll chime in.

Seems to me the Daisy chains will hold up just fine for you. I’ve used mine at least a dozen times so far and have had zero problems with them. They are super easy to deploy and adjust. The weave seems to be more robust that stitched loops. And, best of all, you can hang all manner of stuff from your suspension.

I’ve hung 270lbs from the Dutch’s Daisy Chains, no problems so far.

Daisy Chain specs from the website:

Overall Webbing Break Strength: 5000 pounds
Individual Loop Break Strength: 2000 pounds

I'd say you're good. I have some of these and have only used them a couple of times but they were super easy to use!

This is correct and well researched.

Just to throw in another option, look at Dutch's cinch buckles and straps. Easy to adjust and more adjustability.

This stuff is very very strong, and would be very very convenient. A little heavy:

I have used Dutch's daisy chains for a hammock loaded with 2 adults and 2 kids - I'm guesstimating about 350lbs - 400lbs - and they held up fine. From what I have seen, I would think that the hammock fails long before the daisy chains fail.
