I love to splice rope. I know the tools I prefer, But I was wondering what other people are using. Heres mine....
1/8" 7/64" Amsteel: I like wire for buries, 16ga. or 18ga. hung ceiling wire. 2' folded over for a 12" tool. I've used loop turners before, didn't care for them. If u accidently go through the side pushing it through for a bury, u have to keep pushing it until it far enough to flip the tab so u can pull it back out. With wire, u can just pull it back out at any point and keep going.
I use an awl that I picked up in the sewing section of Walmart. I use that for thinning the ends and making openings for fixed loops.
1.75 Zing-it: I also use wire. 24ga. seems a bit thin and wiggly at first, But when its folded over, its perfect.
I use an apholstery needle for thinning the ends and making openings
