i love the mindgames i get to play with myself. over string, rope, stretch, hand, weight, usability, everything adjusts and fiddles and flops funny some days, its all a frustrating game. i watched a google talk thing today by "the superman of hiking" can't remember his name skurka or something like that, talks about three types of fun type 1 is fun to do and fun to talk about later type 3 is not fun to do or talk about later, i think hammocking often times can fall into the type 2: not fun to do, a lot of fun to talk about having done later on. you fight with the bugs with your net, with your UQ in the wind, maybe your pegs come up and smack you in the butt in the night. i am LITERALLY still sleeping on my coyote brown hexon 1.0 that i poked a couple holes in like 6 months ago; LITERALLY asking to wake up midair en route to the ground and have to get up hurtin and setup a different hammock, requiring different or new pieces because i don't hang with the same setup with all the hammocks i bring along (redundancy is key to staying dry off the ground) and i haven't re-purchased a headlamp. idgaf i love the risk, the rewards are glorious, and fiddlin with the strings and ropes and straps and knots and gizmos make it alllll worth while. i just made some of the internal tarp tensioners on a whim whilst watching the video, LEGIT.
