    Fleece UQ for summer?

I live on the Gulf Coast, and when I go camping in the Summer it can stay up to 80 at night. Would a simple Fleece underquilt be a good idea to at least keep the wind off?

An UQ protector would keep the wind off, but regular fleece definitely will not. Its is designed to be super-breathable so it can't stop - in fact it can just barely slow - the wind.

The UQP will be way lighter and pack smaller as well.

I agree with Otter, I use a fleece blanket just to cover me lightly, but it adds no protection from the wind. An UQP is the way to go!

in my mind, if it's 80, you want the wind/breeze, no?

coming from the great white north, trying to sleep in 80+ is like leaving a popsicle on the counter

    melt!

Do you have a single layer or double layer hammock? An UQP would be like adding a second layer. In my experience at 80 at night I would welcome the wind so the fleece would be more than adequate in northern Alabama in the summer.

I had a few nights this past summer at around 65F where I didn't use anything underneath and was comfortable but just barely. This has had me thinking about something similar.

A UQ protector would probably work, but I think I'd want something that breathes a little better. I guess I would have to try it. Probably nothing at all down to ~70 and something like the UQ protector down to ~60 or so and then put on an actual UQ.
