    KY > Jefferson Memorial Forest > April 27th-28th, 29th 2018 > Spring Hang

    Event Details
Who: All hangers, friends, families, and anyone interested in learning more about hammocking
What: Group Hang and Rest-N-Relaxation Weekend
When: April 27th, 28th, 29th, 2018 (last weekend in April)
Where: Jefferson Memorial Forest - Horine Reservation - Group Site #3 (Parking Lot: 38.076749, -85.759327)
Cost: $5 per person. This covers the cost of the site reservation ($60 for the weekend)

Much the same as before, everyone can arrive Friday evening whenever is best for them. Saturday morning, we'll cook a Mountain Man breakfast. Then, Saturday afternoon, if we're not too terribly overfed, we'll go for a hike. Saturday evening, we'll all chip in for the famous potluck dinner (theme to be decided in the comments that follow). Sunday morning, we'll break camp, clean up, and head home.

As always, let me know if you have any questions or suggestions!

A sign-up sheet for the event can be found here (Google Sheets):

I would rather be in the woods... my dog would rather be in the pool. My wife thinks we are both nuts.

Getting started early. Gonna add this to my calendar and see what happens. I have a bike rally a few weeks after that, so a practice hang will be good.
    Thanks,
    Brad

Good luck and happy trails to RedTrailedHawk and his AT thru hike. We'll miss you for this one. I'll cook a 'dump cake' for the potluck dinner in your honor.

This looks like a good time. I think I will plan to come to this one and bring my wife and two boys. My wife likes hammocking, just not in cold weather so this should be a good one for her.
It ain't always about hammer'n out the miles....Sometimes it's about just 'hanging out"!

It could be 40F or 70F this time of year around Louisville, you just never know!

Yeah, she does fine down into the low 30's. She thinks I am crazy going out in sub-zero temps.....and of course my boys are always too excited to care. Looking forward to it.

I would have to agree with her, my limit is around 30F for the low. It just is not enjoyable for me below that anymore. Probably has more to do with my age than anything else, stiffness in the morning cold. I enjoy hiking and working in cold though.

    This sounds interesting
    Directionally challenged...comicly so.

Not all who wonder are lost...But I'm probably just lost.
