Kevlar Reinforced Ripstop Source?
Brian, who makes MacCat tarps, uses Kevlar reinforced ripstop for the reinforcement patches on his tarps. Anybody ever seen this stuff for sale anywhere? I thought about picking up a yard of it just for general use in my DIY projects that require some reinforcement somewhere. I would say that a yard of this fabric would last a very long time if were just using small patches of the fabric.
I have been thinking it would be really nice to use on the corners of my soon-to-be bridge hammock.

Dyneema gridstop fabric should come pretty close. Seattle Fabric sells it in the 500 denier weight (white window spectra). I think Brian uses the 210 denier.

I picked up a couple of yards from http://www.rockywoods.com/nylons_main.htm#ripstop where it was "On Sale" for 12.99yd.
The stuff looks and feels pretty bombproof though YMMV.
Dyneema gridstop would work just fine I guess. It's kinda steep at 18.00 a yard, but like I said one yard would last for a long time for what I'm using it for.

I bet Kevlar reinforced ripstop would start bringing the weight up on it too.

I'm just gonna use it for reinforcement, like the corners of tarps, tie out points, or any other spot that needs it. I don't think small sections are gonne effect the weight that much.

I believe either OWF or Thru-Hiker was selling Kevlar ripstop at some point, but was out of stock the last time I checked.

Do you know the weight on it? If it would come close to 200 denier, I would consider it on a pack. Probibly still overkill though.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?
