That Chattooga river area looks pretty nice for a hang.

There aren't typically very many nags in the Atl/N GA area. One around Halloween, and an informal get together infrequently but nothing regular.
South Carolina has an active group on Facebook and they have hangs in different spots around the state. Watch the forums here and NC also has hangs from time to time. Good luck!
You can come to Alabama next weekend- we’ll welcome you!

I'd love to do something this weekend in north Georgia- maybe in the Rabin bald/ chattooga river area. Or even off of the AT somewhere
I previously toyed with driving to the Sipsey hang this weekend, but at over 4 hours of driving (added to the fact that I'm not confident I can get out of work before infamous ATL traffic hits) I doubt I can make it west before dark.
But I'm more than down for an informal group hang in the north of the state somewhere. Maybe we can get a few more people on board.

The old saying, "If you make it, they will come." has almost always worked for hammock campers.
Find out what dates are good for you and start a group hang thread. Stay up with any needed updates to "refresh" your thread in case others may have missed it and before you know it, there are 10 or more hangers with you. Tweak the date if needed if others are not available and have a great time planning and hanging.
Still 2 months away, but you can always come down to HangCon 2018 on MLK Weekend. We will be here for you.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
Hoping this is about the last "heat wave" here in the Chattanooga area. I thought we were about there 2 weeks but we are back in the mid 70's again.
I too was wondering about a group hang in this area (north or south of Chattanooga). Part of me would like to take part in a "hike in" type of hang (1-5 miles of moderate or less difficulty) but part of me would be glad to do a simple car camping hang just to get with other hangers. Being fairly new to all of this, I would enjoy getting together (in person ) just to get a chance to check out other people's hammock set ups, gear, and techniques.
The later does not have to be elaborate or a multi day meet.
Id be willing to get a hang going.
