I remember the trail being an ice rink and dangerous with my plastic soled Mucks.

I picked up a pair of ice fishing cleats at Meijer for $9. I haven't tried them yet but they look good and were cheap.

Back in the day if my boots had heavy lugs I would run 1/4" hex head sheet metal screws into them. Cost about $2.

I am going to start a few days earlier than planned, heading out in the morning. Should be able to get enough wood processed before any rain may hit. See you all when you arrive.

Make sure to prep a new hole for the throne. Send us some intel when you get all settled and have a safe journey in.

Also, I looked at the spreadsheet and we are looking good for first, second, and third lunches and dinners. Probably could use some eggs (egg beaters in the box are easy)....oh, and we never can have too much bacon.

Update from Squirrelbait. He couldn't wait any longer and went in today to spend the whole week. He'll be joined by some of the usual suspects throughout the week. He couldn't connect to HF, so this is what he sent:

"The trail was great coming in today. Snowmobiles have packed it down. Took 55 min to get back. Under the snow there was ice so with the rain and warmer temps predicted the next few days it should be all ice. Low temps at night should help out.

I used crampons and had no issues. Actually had a Jeep Wrangler drive back here from the upper cabin way. Was weird seeing that. "

Been throwing my gear in a pile all weekend today going through and packing and taking out what I don't need. Wife left for Marquette this morning and I was more packed and ready to leave on Thur then she was if she was not going to be out of town I'd be there now. Anyway see ya in a few days. Be safe and careful to all traveling far.
