Short top quilt OK with beanie?

Can you get away with a top quilt only to the chin if you wear a down beanie/balaclava? I would have a 3/4 UQ below. Min temp not much less than freezing.

    Merci

That is kinda the idea. Going a bit larger let’s you pull it up and snuggle in some bit the normal sizing is to the shoulders.

Yessir...that is the top quilt way. Even more headwear when it drops well below 0ºF.

That's a helluva picture on the bottom. You look like some character in a David Lynch film. Half man, half dog. Suffering terribly. And freezing cold. Yet it's voluntary!
    Thanks!

Oh I'm sure you were fine. Shug knows what he's doing.

But you gotta admit it doesn't look very comfortable.

"look" is in the mind of the beholder.

I see this pick and I think to myself, "Wow, that looks well insulated and I want some." Of course, my PB low is 23*F and no snow here in FL.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

Well at least Shug doesnt have to worry about ticks or loud RVers camped next to him. OTOH he has to deal with the cold, but he is from MN, so he can take it. As for me, I prefer no less than 20*, but shun camping when it is hot/humid. Spring and Fall are my favorite hammock seasons, or temperate temps to be sure with low humidity.

How tall are you? I'm 5"7. I bought a regular sized top quilt, and I'm glad that I did. I considered a short to save a few bucks and an ounce or two, but in the end, I'm happy with my choice.
