    (Dyneema) Cuben Fiber Tarp Review

My CF Tarp is one of my favorite pieces of backpacking gear. It offers all the protection of similar tarps with doors, at 1/3 the weight!! It’s a must add to anyone’s lightweight setup!

Have you tried it in the rain? I'm wondering how the noise it compared to sil-nylon or sil-poly.
    Good video. Very informative.

Here’s a quick video that has the sounds of the Cuben Fiber Tarp vs. the Sil-Poly. The CF had a more noticeable “ping” but I didn’t find it annoying. Hope this helps you out!!

I agree. I love, love mine. As far as rain, it isn't noticeable to me. Maybe side by side I would notice a difference, but not each on their own. Definitely my favorite piece of gear.

I agree, it’s my favorite piece of gear also. To have something so light that protects you so well makes it tops on my list!!

Thanks for the info. That’s a great video. It doesn’t seem to be much, if any louder than the sil-poly. The weight of this CF tarps is crazy! I’m sure one will be in my pack next year.

I got the tarp on order, can't wait.

So who is going to be the first to put a mp3 file together of the sound of rain under a dyneema tarp? I could sleep to that...

I have an 11 ft. Winter Palace with doors. The only thing I like about it is the weight and the only reason I carry it is to keep my total weight down in cold weather.I do like having doors in cold weather though. My biggest objection is that it feels like heavy duty Saran Wrap and it is translucent which makes it a real hot house in warm weather;hence it's strictly a cold weather item for me.
