Limit your hanging to the time span between first frost and the spring hatch and you'll be fine. Hanging during bug season? Get used to your bug net or get eaten.

Lot of good advices thx !
I already have a halwit from Dutch and a couple of diy too, the nube looks cool but this setup looks too big for me. 2 years now that Im sleeping in the woods many times a year and I still feel claustrophobic when I wake up at night, not sure if I will get used at it with time, but I guess its the best way to keep flies away
Oh and thx for the thermacell bug repeller, I will look at this, very interesting !
Interesting thread. I am having problems with claustrophobia also, it is not going away and it is interfering in my life.
My hammock is netless. I do have a chunk of Nano No-See um I do carry into the mountain lakes, when the roads are first opened. I just put up a line and flip the net over, add a little weight to the ends and it works.
Here in the part of Oregon we Hang in, it is cgilly when the sun goes down and there is always a breeze. My home in B.C. I have to have all skin covered or I would be eaten alive by skeeters the size of Humming Birds...
I use B Complex, I make Apple Cider Vinegar for my dog and to use as a hair rinse. I never thought it might repell insects.
Avon Skin-So-Soft at one time was a repellent, now the forumla has changed, I do not think it works very well anymore.

I don't have experience with gathered end hammocks, but find the Ridgerunner with Bugnet to be decent. I now wonder if I would also have claustrophobic issues if I get the Blackbird..

His Screen Tent might be a workable solution if you are willing to lug the weight. He might even have some ideas that may work better.

Well, there have been more than a few times I got in at night, not realising just how many mosquitos got in with me (once there were at least 30 in there with me), and I was fine. I'm one of those people mosquitoes will only eat if they don't have any other option though, so that might have come into play.
All I can say is, try it and you'll find out!
