Hi Everyone,
I am relatively new to hammocking although I have been camping for many, many years. First of all, about myself. I am an Asst. Scout Master so hence the lots of camping. My son got his Eagle Scout rank and aged out a little over 8 years now but I have stayed on as a leader because it is just such a great program. Anyways, I was looking into hammocks about 5 years ago, then one of the new leaders started talking about the Warbonnet BB so I pulled the trigger back in the early spring and I will never go to the ground again unless the situation calls for it. I even took it to our summer camp this past summer and had the best sleep I could ever have at summer camp. Went without a tarp the first 3 days because no threat of rain and falling asleep looking up at the stars was incredible.
I have been lurking on hammockforums ever sense I was thinking about buying a hammock last year so finally decided to become a member because there is just such a great group of people on here. It is amazing how much information is on here not to mention all of Shugs videos. I amazed myself on the first camping trip we made in the early spring how quickly I was able to set things up. I know setting up a hammock is easier than a tent, but from everything I learned on here, it felt like I was a natural. Oh, it wasn't my first time in the hammock because one of the first things I learned on here was to try your gear out at home first! So since I don't have trees, I learned here how to make a set of Turtledog stands and was hanging in no time.
I wanted to post here to not just introduce myself and say hi but to also thank everyone here for the great wealth of information that you provide.
YIS (Yours in Scouting)
Mike
