I was on Lincoln Woods and Franconia Brook. Lincoln Brook only had 1 set of tracks going in. Most people use the Black Pond Whack and that route is very well broken out. There's almost zero chance that Lincoln Brook Trail between 13 falls and the slide path is broken.

That is what I thought. Thanks!

I might think about doing the same thing. I know you must bushwhack, but is there a more desirable direction off Owl's Head?

The only real usable routes for winter to OH are black pond and brutas. Water crossings over franconia brook and lincoln brook can be tricky which is why most people cut them off with Black Pond. Some people went up the slide last week because they missed the turnoff for brutas but the slide is no fun when icy. Both whacks show up on the OSM layer on caltopo.

Thanks for all the info you've provided! I was able to load up the TF outdoors layer in Caltopo and easily find all the trails you were talking about. Google maps shows a large parking area where we start. Any idea how crowded it gets?

I actually went up there again this past weekend. Same trails. Made it all the way to Bear Pond this time. Lincoln Woods is one of, if not the, largest trailhead lot in the Whites. This time of year parking is not an issue but in the summer cars end up on the road. Both Friday morning and Friday evening the lot was practically empty. Upon returning on Sunday it was a little more occupied but nowhere near full.

Do they plow the Lincolin Woods trail head in the winter? I've only been there in non snowy conditions

If I get out of work late, I'm considering driving up late Thursday Night and possibly sleeping in my car at the trailhead.
