Introducing Ridgeline Media Systems HangTime Hook:

    Carbon fiber hooks?
    Hangtime iPhone cases?
    New colors?
    New accessories?
    Integrated LED light?
Hangtime hat? (so we can hike and watch Netflix simultaneously)
Redesigned mount? (smaller, greater range of motion)

Swapping out the stock clamp with a magnetic mount frees up a lot of motion.

I'd love to see a version molded in some kind of semi-flexible material (high density rubber or some such), so I could leave it attached to my ridgeline when stuffing my hammock in my pack and not worry about breaking it. Don't have any idea if such a thing is possible though.

Great idea of a rubber one.

Maybe some semi-ridged plastic or silicone.

The current Hangtime Hook is manufactured using a mold that fits into a thermoplastic injection molding press. That tooling can't be used to make parts in wildly different materials. Other rigid thermoplastic materials could be used, but if they have different shrink rates than the current material, the dimensions of the finished part will not be the same. For the most part, that wouldn't be a huge deal, except for the ball that the clamp mounts to. If the ball changes size by more than a few percent, the mating parts either won't fit or would be too loose to hold a device in position.

There are certain "rubbery" materials that can be used with injection molding tooling, but unlikely with similar shrink rates to the current plastic. Other materials, like silicone, are molded using a different set of manufacturing processes.

I doubt Mr. Hook will be pursuing these options, as the tooling cost outlay would likely exceed the benefit of increased sales in a "rubbery" version.

My guess would be a product or series of products that will work synergistically with the existing Hangtime Hook.
