Long time lurker, first time posting. Love the forum and have learned so much. Way too much if you ask my wife.

I started down the ultralight path; found hammocks, got some store bought GTs, moved quickly to Dutch netless, and then the insanity began.

Made a DIY hex tarp, Fronkey bugnet (Cryptic Cricket setup with mods for length), and purchased some quilts. Recently studied the 1000 pages of the bipod stand and made 2 of these.

I got my family to attend the TX Fall Hang this year and everyone had a blast. My wife made a couple of CDT UQs for this trip.

I would say that car camping is ok. However, I love backpacking and don't get to get out nearly enough. A huge thank you to all that contribute to this wonderful community. Look forward to learning more and maybe contributing some myself...

Isle DuBois & Johnson Branch CG's both have sites with enough trees for a family outing

SW - thank you for that idea. I usually go up to Lake Texoma on the the trail to the south. This is a great option for my 12-year-old son and myself!
