Here is a picture of my 12' winter tarp setup on the stand. This is kind of what Latherdome means when you pull the excess through the apex and guy out to the ground. Even though it looks kind of wonky, it still works great.

I will be buying the tarp extenders when they become available, and will be buying the Tensa Solo(sp?) conversion kit in the near future. Also, a little elf told me to expect a 11' tarp kit in the mail for Christmas.

EDIT: forgot to attach the picture.

Thanks for all the replies! Very helpful info! My next question is regarding rain. I saw a couple posts that show rain water running down the poles. This is to be expected. How does the set up affect the ability to prevent rain from entering the hammock via the lines? Does a drip line still have the same effectiveness given the shorter distance between the poles and the hammock body? I'm probably making this more complicated than it is. I have a tendency to overthink things.

That photo is the head end as you can see the yellow head tether with the black shockcord. It is just easy to guy both ends of the Tensa as they send it now and not ever worry.

Exactly like Shug said. I used to have a picture of the foot end as well, but I had the stand tethered at both ends. To be honest, I probably didn't need to tether the head end since the tarp was kind of pulling down on that end. But it certainly doesn't hurt to just tether both ends and be all set with it.

I tie my tarp ridgeline guys to the stands head and foot guylines. Fewer lines, cleaner. But with the upcoming tarp extensions those tarp guylines aren't needed except in extreme conditions.

Yea, I thought of that after I rigged everything up. I could even use the tree I was next to as a tarp anchor on the one end. None of which seemed obvious to me at the moment haha.

Another great night with the tensa at black creek lake by Decatur tx.

Storm blew in with strong wind gusts. It was nice not worrying about a tree limb falling on my noggin!

I downloaded 4 episodes of damnation on Netflix

Storm blew in, lightning in back ground

    After the storm

    Loving the tensa!

Everyone keeps asking about how well the Tensa4 does with tarps. We here at Tensa Outdoor are working diligently on bringing you our tarp extensions and are considering offering a huge tarp as well.

Tarp extensions have been both prototyped and tested. We are currently sourcing parts and have ordered at least samples of everything needed. Once we are sure of the quality we will order in bulk.

This got us thinking about tarps. Yes you all have your tarps, but not everyone we hope can use our stand has even started hammocking yet. As a result I have prototyped (with a 16 x 12 foot HD poly tarp from Costco - 2 for $20) a winter hex 13 foot ridgeline monstrosity. As you can see by the include photo, the Tensa4 with tarp extensions handles this like a champ. I stopped at this size because it is the widest tarp that can be made with the XL (72") wide fabrics now available. Just add some poles - Tensa Solo work great - and you have a porch mode for a crowd.
