They’re 7/64” Amsteel, which has an average break strength of 1600lbs. This is derated by a knot and being tensioned over small-radius bends like many other Amsteel hammock suspensions. We rate the stand to 400lbs, with the poles expected to fail long before the lines including connectors. With a 30° hang angle, the tension on the suspension being transferred to the connectors equals the user weight. We do advise users to inspect the lines each setup for wear.

That’s the prescribed way. You may also hang the hammock suspension over the near pole end, the far end being used for the guyline. This has the effect of shortening suspension, also distributes line wear.

I gotta tell ya'. This stand is a game changer for me for motorcycle and car camping. I bought mine about two weeks ago and used it last week for the first time. Wow. It truly is simple to use and stable. Ya, it has a lower "seat height" than it would if I were to use trees. Well, I don't notice that when laying in the hammock and, even with the lower seat height, I can still seat myself comfortably. I got rained on for two of my four nights. The tarp extensions are a must-have in my opinion. They are a very effective means of giving a little height, extension and coverage to your tarp for not a lot of additional cost.

I've been taking my Tensa 4 stand in my kayak on camping trips in case I need to set up somewhere without good trees or where hanging from trees is not allowed. One of my camping friends needs a CPAP at night. We went to an island in Boston Harbor that has yurts with power poles outside them. With the permission of the ranger, I set her up in the stand near the power pole and we plugged her CPAP in. She slept great as a result. Now she's buying her own hammock and tarp. I'm sure a stand will be on her Christmas list.

Thanks BigSky! Maybe you are super tall and can’t avoid head/foot interference with the base narrower to raise you up? Make sure your hammock suspension is not too long, either. Shortening it will raise you up. It’s only too short if your hammock ridgeline sags when you are reclining. It is OK for it to sag when you are just sitting in the hammock. Anyway some combination of shorter suspension and narrower base should give you plenty of seat height.

Yep, did all that Latherdome. All those suggestions worked great. I'm now just in minor tweaking mode. This is THE best hammock stand, bar none.

What linda stakes are people using instead of the orange screws
I just picked up some 3/16 pencil rod and am planning on bending a loop on one side and sharpen the other
Was trying to use these 12” nails but tie outs would slip right off
