    Hello From MN

I want to thank everyone for this sight and am excited to get back into camping by way of the hammock. I'm new to hammocking sort of. I can explain another time. I'm a noob to the hammocking and hope to learn all I can.

I'm originally from Syracuse, NY area and spent many summer nights in the Adirondack region hiking and camping with the old frame packs that weighed a ton. Now, I look forward to experiencing the outdoors again in my hammock!! I'm also a motorcyclist and can't wait to expand my cycling experience with my hammock!

    Thanks

    DeucePutts

P.S. Anyone from the MN area tackle any of the Ice Age Trail?? I'm looking to plan a trip next year and looking for insights.

Welcome to hammock forums! Thought I would say hello as another Minnesotan. I really like this forum, a ton of what I know about hammocking I learned here. Happy hanging!

Welcome. You're close to several really nice sections of the Ice Age Trail, the Chippewa Moraine segment and the Blue Hills segment. The north country trail here is Wisconsin is also close and a great place to get your feet wet (again) backpacking. Trail is very rolling and mellow yet still offers a primitive, remote feel. We also offer shuttles free of charge (NCT volunteer group) for those who don't want to out and back. Then of course the crown jewel north of you, the superior hiking trail. If you haven't discovered Shug and his youtube Superior Hiking Trail series you soon will.

Don't do motorcycle touring myself but plenty on here do so I'm sure plenty of great advice in that arena as well.

Welcome to the forum. Just a heads up, watch out for a fellow hammocker named Shug who lives in that neck of the woods. He likes to instigate such things as wandering out into the woods in -40F and -27F weather to hang just cuz' and then making videos of the few victims who have fallen prey to his folly.
